Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • Please ensure that two versions of the paper – one with authors identified and one anonymised – are submitted in PDF format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • A cover letter explaining the novelty of the work is included.
  • Relevant computer code (preferably annotated) has been included, including code to reproduce simulation results. Code without clear annotations may significantly delay the review process.

Author Guidelines

All manuscripts must be submitted online in PDF format. All submitted manuscripts are refereed through a double-blind peer review process. Once the manuscript has undergone peer review, the corresponding author will be contacted by the Editor with feedback on the paper.

Your submission should include (1) a complete manuscript with the authors, their affiliations, and acknowledgement of grant funding, (2) an anonymised manuscript in which all identifying information has been removed, (3) a cover letter briefly explaining the novelty of your work and the contribution to the literature, and (4) any code used to evaluate models and/or run simulations in your paper.

Note that the code may be used by reviewers to evaluate your manuscript. Therefore, fully annotated and readable code is highly encouraged to speed up the review process. Also note that inclusion of code in the review process does not automatically translate to the code being published with an accepted paper.

Please use British English consistently throughout your manuscript.

The manuscript can be composed using any typesetting software (including TeX and Microsoft Word) and first submissions are not required to be in the exact format required by the journal. Papers accepted for publication must be transferred to the correct TeX template (available for download here) by the authors. The editorial staff at SASJ will not take responsibility for this process, but in some cases assistance can be made available on request.

More guidelines for authors and information on the official format of the Journal can be downloaded here.
